Things to know about hot tubs and pregnancy To date there are no solid research findings linking birth defects or miscarriages to hot tubs and pregnancy. However, many doctors agree that there may be a number of unknown risks associated with this activity. Many doctors are advising women in their first trimester to stay clear of jacuzzis and spas. If you must go into hot tubs and pregnancy is an issue, stay out of water above 100 degrees. Hot tubs and pregnancy don’t mix well but if must go in, do so and take breaks at least every 10 minutes. This will give your body time to cool down. Fever or heat is not good for the baby so you must be careful while in warmer water. Also, it is highly recommended that you don’t sit on the edge where there is a build up of bacteria. Now if you are trying to start a family, hot tubs and pregnancy won’t work especially for the male partner. The testes are very sensitive to heat which in turn can damage or impact sperm production. Most vulnerable are developing sperm that can take up to three months to mature. So if you really want a baby, find other ways to enjoy each other’s company.
